What is HIFU
HIFU is a new method of skin rejuvenation that uses ultrasound. It is capable of treating deeper layers of skin and is thus capable of dealing with the root causes of age related structural changes of the skin.
The ultrasound bypasses the upper layers of the skin without affecting them and it is focused to a point located in dermis where it causes localized heating of the tissue. The heating induced shortening of collagen fibbers causes immediate lifting of the skin and consequently reduction in wrinkles. The optimal temperature for collagen regeneration induces neocollagenesis at every treated point in the skin. During the period of several months after the treatment the appearance of the skin continues to improve and remodeling of the skin structure lifts the skin and makes it more youthful, tightened and toned.
Focus depth
Depths at which the ultrasound is focused can be chosen by using appropriate cartridge. There are three depths to choose from: 1.5 mm, 3.0 mm, and 4.5 mm. The three depths correspond to upper dermis, lower dermis, and superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) respectively.
Results
Regeneration of the skin begins during the therapy and continues long after the therapy is finished. The first phase of regeneration is healing and last a few days. In this phase the skin is sensitive to the touch.
During the next three months skin regeneration enters to the second phase during which new collagen is formed and the results continue to become more pronounced. The last phase lasts up to a year after the therapy.
At the end of the last phase final results are visible. They include tight skin and improved tonus of the underlying musculature (results in lifting of the skin), as well as rejuvenated structure of the skin. Together these effects result in more youthful appearance of the skin.
How does HIFU differ from alternatives
HIFU is a new effective option for skin rejuvenation. Unlike the radiofrequency procedure, which is treating the bulk volume of the skin tissue, HIFU is treating only very small focalized points deep in the skin. Idea of inducing small skin lesions was previously implemented by fractal laser and needling, but only with the HIFU technology, there is no fear of damaging epidermal skin layer.

Treatment areas
Therapy can be performed on the face, neck, décolletage and body. Therapy can also be focused only on the parts where more youthful appearance is desired.
